Franco Pasti (1947 – 2023) was a self-taught photographer based in Milan. He began his career working in still life and fashion photography for Vogue Italia and Vogue Australia from 1978 to 1988.
He also collaborated internationally with prestigious fashion and interior design magazines. After this period, he dedicated his career primarily to portrait photography, capturing iconic artists and influential figures from the fashion world.
In addition to his portrait work, my father was an avid traveler who ventured to many far-flung destinations. These journeys expanded both his perspective and his practice, attuning his eye to the boundless beauty of the world and its diverse cultures. Along the way, he photographed people, architecture, and landscapes.
His series of leaves, a natural extension of his travels and close observation of the world, reflects a deep admiration for nature in its ever-evolving forms. The images were taken during his summer travels to Greece, a place that deeply influenced his visual language and remained close to his heart throughout his life. This body of work serves as a meditation on light and form, embracing nature in its entirety.
This open studio is to pay tribute to his career and to honor the legacy he leaves behind.
