Carolina Pasti is an art advisor and curator based in Milan and Paris. She specialises in building and enhancing art collections for a diverse clientele, working with both private and corporate clients. As well as expert knowledge of Art History, Carolina has immersive industry experience spanning over a decade. Her passion for the international Art Market and awareness of evolving artistic trends positions her as an ideal choice for guiding clients to build and grow their collections.
Born and raised in Milan, Carolina holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History from Università Cattolica of Milan. Formerly, she was the Director and Curator of the Schulhof Collection in New York, where her focus was on Post-War and Contemporary Art. During her tenure, Carolina played a pivotal role in orchestrating the donation of over 100 artworks from the family Estate to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the Whitney Museum in New York, and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Her book “A Life with Artists: Hannelore and Rudolph Schulhof” was published by Rizzoli, Skira in 2016.
In 2024, she curated the Breasts exhibition at the historic Palazzo Franchetti during the Venice Biennial with over 65,000 visitors seeing the show. ‘Breasts’ showcased the diverse works of emerging and established artists from around the world, spanning the realms of painting, sculpture, photography, and film. Works in the exhibition explore how breasts have been understood and represented in art across cultures and traditions. Reflecting on a range of themes from motherhood, empowerment, sexuality, body image and illness, it explores how breasts act as a catalyst to discuss socio-political realities, challenge historical traditions and express personal and collective identities.

This book brings together work that explores the subject of breasts, showcasing artworks that investigate their multifaceted significance across diverse cultures and traditions. From themes of motherhood, empowerment, and sexuality to discussions on body image and illness, the artworks serve as a lens through which to examine socio-political realities, challenge historical norms, and explore personal and collective identities. Curator Carolina Pasti, who has worked closely with the artists on the exhibition, examines the unique work of more than thirty artists investigating the cultural, political, historical, and personal contexts that shape their interpretations of breasts. The book features reproductions of the artworks, accompanied by statements from the artists themselves. Included are new works by Laure Prouvost and an interview with contemporary artist Prune Nourry and photographer Philippe Garner, who discuss their personal connection with the subject, and an illuminating essay by writer and curator Kathy Battista. A portion of the proceeds generated from the sale of this book will be donated to support Fondazione IEO-MONZINO.
A Life With Artists: Hannelore and Rudolph Schulhof
An unparalleled collection of post-war and contemporary art assembled by two gutsy collectors. The Schulhofs were unique among American collectors, as they sought art with a truly international dimension; Milan, Rome, Paris, Dusseldorf, Basel, London, Kassel, Venice, Pittsburgh, and New York were just a few of the many destinations for the late Hannelore and Rudolph Schulhof in over fifty years of collecting art. Starting in the early 1950s, together they built a collection that continues to inspire and educate future generations, from the powerful elegance of Richard Serra’s Schulhof’s Curve to Eduardo Chilida’s exquisite ironworks and works on paper by artists such as Robert Smithson, Mark Rothko, and Cy Twombly. The collectors’ interest in minimalism is reflected in works by Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Mangold, Agnes Martin, and Robert Ryman. This handsome volume showcases the thoughtful and highly personal texture of the Schulhof Collection.
